My NaNoWriMo Journey (part 2)

I did it!  I reached 50k words, and a few days early too.  While my manuscript seems quite the mess right now and will undoubtedly need several revisions, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. I got the words down and I reached my goal.

I am grateful for all the people I met along the way, as I met many new friends. I am also thankful for the support I received from my family and friends, and from other writers, especially the  Platform Challenged facebook group – thank you all!  I could not have done it without you.

I am so glad that I decided to make the commitment this year to complete NaNoWriMo.  In previous years, I had toyed with the idea, but never made the commitment, so very few words ever got written.  It was grueling at times, making sure I got in my time with the computer, but it helped me build a habit of consistently writing every day, even if it was just a few words.  Overall, I think it has enriched my writing life.  I gained new writer friends, set a habit of writing every day, and now have another novel to ready for publishing!

If you didn’t participate this year, I highly recommend you try it next year.  You won’t regret it.  If you did participate, feel free to share about your experience in the comments.

  1. Wonderful post. Indeed, I too was glad to have written at least something every day, even if only 200. It’s a habit I hope and plan to keep up with. Congrats again on winning NaNoWriMo!! Have to start somewhere, and you have, which is amazing. Good luck with your revisions!

  2. Congratulations, Charity! I learn several new things about myself and about writing every year in NaNoWriMo, but this is the first year I’ve finished it. It was nice to finally learn I could do that! I’m very happy for you that you did, also! I’m especially proud of you for your new daily habit. Keep up your excellent progress.

  3. Congrats Charity! We are so grateful to have you in the group. You’re a shining star! I too toyed with the idea of NaNo for a few years before I committed the first time, and I WAS SO GLAD I DID!!
It’s a crazy wonderful ride. I’m proud of you for taking it!
