The Gift of Christmas

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays.  I love the decorations, the shopping, the carols, the books, and the movies!   And while I love all of these things, I try not to let them overshadow the true spirit of Christmas –  the giving to others and the love that motivates that giving.

As a Christian, the best part of that Christmas spirit is remembering God’s gift to us, his only son Jesus.  For Christians, it’s one of the most important holidays we celebrate.  Without Jesus’s birth, we would have no salvation.  So today, I just wanted to share some of my favorite words telling of Christ’s birth.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you, you shall find the babe wrapped is swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” Luke 2:11-14

“and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came over and stood where the young child was.  When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.” Matthew 2:9-10

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season full of love and peace!

Merry Christmas!
